Abstract
Alborixin, a polycyclic polyether ionophorous antibiotic, active against gram-positive bacteria and fungi, was isolated from cultures of a strain of Streptomyces albus. The isolation, structure and physicochemical properties of this antibiotic are reported. Some derivatives were prepared, and their structures and properties are also described.
