Abstract
This study examined the currently popular hypothesis that agoraphobics utilize repression as a method of avoiding anxiety‐arousing cognitions. Contrary to previous expectations, none of the sample scored in the repression direction of Byrne's Repression/Sensitization Scale. Controversially, an opposite view of agoraphobics as sensitizers emerges from these data.Keywords
