Abstract
That the non-parasitic stage of a beneficial parasite may be dependent on a local factor is shown by the example of the introduction into Puerto Rico of a wasp, Larra americana, parasitic in its larval stage on the mole cricket, Scapteriscus vicinus, and apparently dependent in its adult stage on the nectar of Borreria verticillata and Hyptis atrorubens. Similar instances may explain failures in introducing other beneficial parasites.
