Abstract
The role of the pelvic and lumbosacral nerves on oviposition in hens was determined by transecting these nerves shortly before birds began laying. Such transections did not influence subsequent ovulations and had little influence upon oviposition time, except that in a few birds the incidence of premature ovi-positions was increased and possible causes of this are discussed. The results of this study indicate that the parasympathetic innervation of the uterus has little or no influence on the initiation of oviposition. Keywords
