Abstract
# Values for plasma osmolality may have been wrong {#article-title-2} EDITOR,—S M Matthai and colleagues report two cases of cerebral oedema associated with the syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone after ingestion of 3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or “ecstasy”).1 Their letter is, however, somewhat misleading. In case 1 the patient was reported to have a plasma sodium concentration of 119 mmol/l and a plasma osmolality of 156 mmol/kg.
