Abstract
The theory of action-at-a-distance interaction between objects of two dimensions is studied. The theory developed has some similarities to the corresponding theory of one-dimensional objects (strings). The fundamental invariants of the theory are found. A particular interaction is studied, and it is found that the interaction between closed membranes takes place via a pseudoscalar field. Keywords
