Determinacion Cromatografica de Aminoacidos en Algas Marinas

Abstract
Partition chromatography on paper and chromatoinophoresis on Whatmann 2 MM paper with a polichromatic location reagent gave excellent separation and identification of the amino acids present in samples of fresh hydrolized algae. Ulva lactuca L., U. linza L., Lessonia nigrescens Bory, Durvillaea antarctica (Cham.)Hariot, Porphyra columbina Mont., and Iridaea laminarioides Bory were used. All the essential amino acids (except tryptophan, which is destroyed by acid hydrolysis) were present; this confirmed the work done by other investigators on other algae. Nineteen amino acids were found in the specimens studied. The unidentified spots were unique for each sp.; chromatographic analysis, therefore, should afford a means of identifying spp.
