Abstract
The calculations described in the first paper in this series are here completed by calculating the distortion of polytropes arising from a weak ( $$\leqslant10^6$$ gauss) dipole-like magnetic field. Detailed results are presented for polytropes of indices 1.0 and 3.0. These show that the dipole field effects a contraction of the polytrope of index 3 and an expansion of the polytrope of index 1. This result is explained simply in terms of the Lorentz force.
