Abstract
The bivalent pachytene chromosomes in microsporocytes of Zea mays L. were associated with synaptinemal complexes similar in structure to those found in other species. The lateral elements were associated with blocks of chromatin suggestive of chromomeres. In cross section the lateral elements appear crescent-shaped. A highly differentiated structure occurs at the attachment region between chromosome and nucleolus. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
