Vocal Rehabilitation After Reconstructive Surgery for Laryngeal Cancer

Abstract
A technique is described for resurfacing the larynx by skin flaps with reconstruction of artificial vocal cords in a single-stage operation. The method was used to deal with neoplasms as well as with other difficult laryngeal problems, such as congenital malformation, and stenosis following trauma, infection, or radiation. The patients developed good voices much faster than those who under- went standard operations. Two cases are reported with reconstruction of both vocal cords by skin flaps and good functional results.
