Pattern matching in the presence of visual noise.

Abstract
4 patterns of dots were constructed and a number of test patterns varying from the basic design in terms of adding or subtracting dots (noise level) were constructed for each prototype pattern. Ss were college students whose task was to determine which of the prototype patterns each test pattern most resembled.
