Abstract
To untangle certain nomenclatural confusions within the S. African marine algae, the genera Rhodoseris and Papen-fussia are made synonyms of Pollexfenia which then includes the species laciniata and minuta. The genus Botryoglossum then includes cartilagineum. Jeannerettia includes lobata, pedicellata, crispata, nana, and crenata. Martensia being invalid for algae, the following species are assigned to Mesotrema J. Agardh, pavonia, elegans, fragilis, denticulata, australis, flabelliformis, speciosa, and beccariana. Keywords
