Abstract

A fibre-embedded optical isolator without a lens element is proposed and fabricated. The isolator consists of beamexpanding fibres, laminated polarisers and a Faraday rotation garnet. Backward and forward losses at 1.3μm wavelength are 36.9 and l.6dB respectively.
