Abstract
Comparative study of present and fossil ground-voles Microtus (Terricola) by multivariate analysis leads to propose a first synthesis of species distribution during the Quaternary: the presence of Microtus (Terricola) subterraneus in France is recent, M. (T.) multiplex appeared before the Wurmian period, the Mediterranean species M. (T.) duodecimcostatus appeared in France after 320 000 BP, and M. (T.) gregaloides occupied the western Europe between 700 000 and 450 000 BP.
