Abstract
A spontaneous, hemadsorption-negative mutant of Mycoplasma pneumoniae lacks the cytoskeleton-forming HMW1 protein and exhibits a truncated adhesin-related 30-kDa protein. Genetic analyses revealed deletion of one nucleotide in the hmw1 gene and loss of eight repeated sequences comprising 144 nucleotides in the gene for the adhesin-related 30-kDa protein. Keywords
