Microwave plasma at atmospheric pressure and measurement of its density

Abstract
At atmospheric pressure, a dense argon plasma column ( approximately 1014 cm-3) is created in capillary quartz tubes by a plasma surface wave. The electron density ne is measured through the reflectivity of the TE01 mode of an X-band waveguide crossed by the plasma. Discussion shows that ne is determinated with an error less than 20% if the plasma diameter is known accurately.
