A Cephei variable in an eclipsing binary in the cluster NGC 3293

Abstract
We present photometric observations of HD 92024 in NGC 3293 which is found to be both a β Cep variable with oscillation periods of 0.177 and 0.130 day and a member of an eclipsing binary with a period of 8.323 day. The solution of the eclipsing light curve indicates that the secondary is probably a main-sequence star of spectral type B8. The oscillation frequencies have a ratio close to what is expected for first overtone and second overtone radial pulsation, but a 1 cycle day−1 ambiguity in one of the frequencies also allows the identification of the two modes as quadrupole travelling waves.
