Abstract
Summary.: Anucleate fragments of HeLa cell cytoplasm support the growth of the paramyxoviruses, parainfluenza type 1 and Newcastle disease virus at least to the point of development of haemadsorption. These viruses are therefore genetically self‐sufficient, insofar as they can code for all the steps in the multiplication cycle up to this stage without the participation of nuclear deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).Keywords
