The Measurement of Swelling of Wool Fibers in Solvents by Laser-Beam Diffraction

Abstract
The diffraction of monochromatic light from a laser has been used for the measurement of the diameter of single wool fibers in liquids and mixtures of liquids. The method is simple and more accurate than other methods used for the determination of swelling of wool fibers. The results of measurements in a number of swelling solvents are compared with published results obtained by other methods.
