Abstract
In human ovary and kidney embryonal cells cultivated in vitro, 10 primary nucleoli appear after mitosis. This coincides with gene expression of r[ribosomal]DNA in the 10 nucleolus organizers of the human acrocentric chromosomes (no. 13, 14, 15, 21 and 22). The primary nucleoli associate gradually and asynchronously, forming a single interphase nucleolus. By prophase, when the chromosomes coil further, dissociation of the nucleolus occurs. The pattern of human nucleolar kinetics within the course of 1 mitotic division was described.
