B-MODE SONOGRAPHIC EVALUATION OF ABDOMINAL MASSES IN THE PEDIATRIC PATIENT

Abstract
Thirty-five pediatric patients with abdominal masses were studied with both the usual roentgenographic and isotopic examinations and B-mode ultrasonography. The results of the study indicate that sonography is a nonintervention means of determining both the size, site, and depth of abdominal mass lesions as well as the internal structure of these masses. In some instances, the sonographic examination was the most valuable diagnostic aid in the work-up of the patient.
