ON THE DETERMINATION OF ARTERIAL OXYGEN SATURATIONS FROM SAMPLES OF “CAPILLARY” BLOOD 1

Abstract
The Roughton-Scholander microgasometric method (B.A. 23255, 1943) has been applied to the detn. of O2 saturation of small samples (0.5 ml.) of "capillary" blood drawn from the ear lobe which had been heated to produce full vasodilatation. The saturations of these "capillary" samples were found to be equivalent to those of samples drawn simultaneously from the brachial artery at various O2 tensions and ambient temps.
