Abstract
This review examines the activity of endogenous prostaglandins [PG] in the physiology and pathophysiology of the pulmonary vasculature and the ductus arteriosus. The topics discussed were: the local nature of PG function; PG and vascular smooth muscle; actions of PG on pulmonary vessels; release of PG from the lungs [hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction, emboli, endotoxin, hyperoxia]; and PG and the ductus arteriosus. Human and animal studies were cited. This publication has 15 references indexed in Scilit:
