Abstract
Satellite lines in the spectrum of nitric oxide which correspond to transitions , v=1, J′←2Π½, v=0, J were observed. Intensity measurements show that these lines are of the order of 10—4 times less intense than the fundamental and have intensities which agree with theoretical predictions. From line‐frequency measurements the multiplet splitting parameter is obtained for both the v=0 and v=1 vibrational levels. The values obtained are A0=123.1 cm—1 and A1=122.9 cm—1. The intensity of the fundamental is found to be 138 cm—2/atm at 273°K, which corresponds to a dipole moment derivative of 2.32 D/Å.
