Abstract
The two homozygous color forms, pale and dark, of Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande), the western flower thrips, were demonstrated for the first time to be similarly able to transmit the tomato spotted wilt virus. There is no difference in transmitting efficiency between the two color forms of F. occidentalis, and Thrips tabaci Lind. A procedure was described for establishing the homozygous color form progenies being derived from the field heterogeneous populations.
