Biosynthesis of Lycopodine. Pelletierine as an Obligatory Intermediate

Abstract

The distribution of ¹⁴C within lycopodine derived from [1,5-¹⁴C]-cadaverine and from [2-¹⁴C]-Δ¹ -piperideine is profoundly affected by the addition of inactive pelletierine. This finding is interpreted as showing that pelletierine is an obligatory intermediate on the pathway from cadaverine and Δ¹-piperideine into lycopodine.
