Three demonstrations involving the visual perception of movement.

Abstract
Three pieces of demonstrational apparatus, illustrating various phenomena involved in the visual perception of movement are descr. in detail. The 1st deals with the role of continuous size change as an indication of continuous movement in the radial direction, i.e., directly toward or away from the point of observation. The 2d considers indications of radial movement in conjunction with indications of tangential movement (movement at a constant radial distance from the point of observation), specifically as integrated in perception of circular motion. The 3d treats some aspects of the effects of perceptual conflicts in a situation involving objective tangential motion. Implications for perceptual theory are briefly discussed.
