Abstract
Phyllocladus alpinus may be distinguished from P. glaucus and P. tricho-manoides by smaller tracheids and commonly occurring solitary pits in a cross-field. It is not possible to satisfactorily distinguish P. galucus from P. tricho-manoides. Phyllocladus species are readily separated from the other members of the Podocarpaceae by their distinct rings, large cross-field pits, abundant tangential pits, and lack of axial parcnchyma. Keywords
