Abstract
-The effects of various mixtures applied as spring dormant treatments on the apple form of the oyster-shell scale [Lepidosaphes ulmi] are reported. Dinotro-o-cyclohexylphenol was dissolved in lubricating oil in the proportion of 1 to 25 by weight and the mixture emulsified. The concn. is stated in terms of actual oil. The following mixtures gave a decrease in infestation of between 90 and 100%: Coal tar oil 41/2% with lubricating oil 1%; and lubricating oil containing dinitro-o-cyclohexylphenol 4, 5, and 6%. Mixtures giving decrease in infestation between 80 and 90% were: coal tar oil 4.5 and 5.5%; and lubricating oil containing dinitro-o-cyclohexylphenol 3%. Water gas tar 4.5% alone gave a slight reduction in infestation; water gas tar 4.5% with lubricating oil 1% gave a reduction of 74%. Percentage decrease in infestation is a better indication of the effect than % efficiency. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
