Abstract

Summary The evaluation of quinine sulfate and diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) as suppressants against sporozoite-induced Chesson strain Plasmodium vivax is reported. The results indicate that quinine sulfate, 7.5 grams daily, is inadequate to offer complete protection in that 3 of 4 volunteers developed patent infections. DDS, when given in daily doses of 25 mg, failed to protect 5 of 5 volunteers.
