Impact of Cancer on Sexuality and Self-Image

Abstract
The diagnosis and treatment of cancer typically forces patients to cope with concerns about self-image, sexual identity, and sexual functioning. For such patients and their partners, the interface between health, mental health, and sexuality is critical. This article reviews the relevant literature, describes a hospital-based educational program that deals with sexuality and self-image, and sets forth recommendations for service delivery.
