Preparation of a Dry Cell Depolarizer by Air Oxidation of Manganous Hydroxide

Abstract
The preparation of an active dry cell depolarizer by air oxidation of manganous hydroxide is described. It is important that the freshly precipitated manganous hydroxide he oxidized before it has a chance to age. After drying, the product had a degree of oxidation corresponding to between and and, when mixed with African manganese dioxide ore, produced high capacity, heavy‐duty cells.
