A Parametric Approach to the Ground-State Energy of an Electron Gas

Abstract
A parametric form is chosen for the ground-state wave function of an electron gas. The expression for the energy of the system is derived and then minimized with respect to the unknown parameters. The energies thus obtained agree well with the results of other authors.Keywords
