Abstract
With sera of rabbits and men, immunized with ragweed antigen (purified) which, contained a minimum of 1.56 and 0.2 mg antibody/ml, respectively, hemagglutination experiments were performed. From these, it is concluded that the threshhold value for the detection of hemagglutination is in the order of 0.0008 [mu]g antibody/ml. Assuming that precipitating, hemagglutinating and blocking antibodies are of the same molecular species (which is suggested by the finding of these antibody functions in the same globulin fraction), blocking effect in the Prausnitz-Kuestner test would require 2-4 [mu]g antibody/ml in order to be detectable. Keywords
