Abstract
In this work OFHC copper disks were sheared under pressures of 21.4, 36.7, 50.5, and 62.6 kbar. Torque strain curves were taken for strains from 0.10 to about 18.0. The flow stress was noted to increase approximately as the strain to the one‐half power. The yield stress at zero pressure was determined, as was the pressure derivative of the yield stress. The effect of pressure on work hardening was measured by determining how the change in slope of the work hardening curves varies with pressure. A qualitative explanation is given for one possible process which could give the experimental results. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
