Effects of rind oils and their components on the induction of rind spot in citrus species

Abstract
Rind oil spot was investigated in seven species of citrus fruit while growing on the tree at the ripening stage. The disorder was artificially induced by rind oils and their components and there were differences in the responses of the different species. Rind oils induced rind spot in most species, as did linalool and rf-limonene, but Early Satsuma mandarin was barely susceptible. There were also differences in natural susceptibility to rind spot; the most susceptible species was C.junos, and the least was Early Satsuma mandarin (C. utishiu).
