Abstract
SUMMARY: In order to investigate the effect of ethanol on the toxicity of promazine, chlorpromazine, promethazine and hydroxyzine animal experiments on about 1800 albino mice were performed. The drugs were given by the method of Behrens with a cannula through the mouth direct into the stomach. The criterion of toxicity was the death of the mouse, and the control time was 24 hours. The results were submitted to statistical analysis and presented in columnar diagrams and in Gaddum's system of co‐ordinates. The combined effect of the drugs investigated proved to be an additive synergism, slightly less than the algebraic sum of the individual drug effect.Fig. 3.—The combined effect of ethanol and promethazine shown in columnar diagrams and Gaddum's system of co‐ordinates. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
