A CLINICAL STUDY OF BRONCHIOLAR CARCINOMA - A CLUE TO UNICENTRICITY OR MULTICENTRICITY

Abstract
It would appear that, in a significant percentage of cases of bronchiolar carcinoma, the tumor tends to remain localized to one lobe over long periods of time. Removal, by lobectomy, of such a tumor offers an excellent prognosis. The clinical observations in the group of cases presented are considered to support the concept of unicentricity of origin of this tumor and, as expressed by Liebow, to indicate that the diffuse and multinodular forms of this tumor represent modes of extension within the lung from one primary focus.
