Abstract
In view of the high perinatal mortality associated with retarded intrauterine growth of the foetus, it is surprising that the subject does not figure more prominently in the current literature. It is considered that a more widespread appreciation of the features of this condition should result in the prevention of many unnecessary foetal deaths. Keywords
