Abstract
Five commercially available open-tubular (capillary) columns having different diameters and film thicknesses are compared from the standpoints of efficiency, resolution, and sample capacity. The data obtained are compared with theoretical values. In addition, the consistency of the relative retention of a peak pair on the different columns is also investigated. All the columns had high efficiency and provided reliable operation. In addition, the performance of conventional (0.25 mm i.d.) and wide-bore (0.53 mm i.d.) columns is compared with the help of two practical samples. Keywords
