Abstract
Filamentous or hyphal forms of Blastomyces dermatitidis have not been observed in vivo. A fresh preparation of sputum from a patient with extensive pulmonary blastomycosis contained hyphal forms. Necropsy disclosed hyphal forms in tissue sections from this patient. A fresh preparation of sputum from a second patient contained similar hyphal forms of Blastomyces dermatitidis. This patient responded to treatment with amphotericin B and is well at the present time. In each case, the possibility of a dual infection was excluded by repeated cultures which grevi Blastomyces dermatitidis only. Keywords
