Psychological Distress Impairs Clearance of Psoriasis in Patients Treated With Photochemotherapy

Abstract
ACCUMULATING EVIDENCE suggests that psychological distress can have detrimental effects on normal human physiology1-5 and on the physiology of the skin in particular.6,7 The long-term stress imparted from care of a demented relative can significantly impair healing of skin biopsy wounds in such caregivers.6 Recently, Garg et al8 demonstrated that skin barrier function is significantly impaired by stress induced by examination anxiety in students.
