Abstract
When rabbits and rats are dosed with phenanthrene, they excrete small amounts of 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 9-hydroxy-phenanthrene. 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-phenanthryl sulphate are excreted, but no 9-phenanthryl sulphate could be detected. Animals of both species excrete 1,2- and 9,10-dihydroxyphenanthryl sulfate. The syntheses of 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 9-phenanthryl sulfate, and of 1-hydroxy-2-, 3-hydroxy-4- and 9-hydroxy-10-phenanthryl sulfate are described. Keywords
