Abstract
Uncertainty remains about the relationship of benign polypoid lesions to the development of carcinoma of the colon. The normal incidence of polyps is gernzane to this problem, and this incidence has been determied 200 unselected autopsies. Polyps occur in Qucensland more commonly than most textbooks would suggest, but the figures are in keeping with careful studies carried out in other countries. The data suggest that the great majority of benign polyps are not progressive lesions, and the clinical implications of their detection are discussed. Keywords
