Abstract
In a psychiatric ward 80 alcoholic patients were treated in the alcohol withdrawal phase under standard conditions except that one of the 3 drugs under study was administered by random assignment to each patient. Patients were evaluated clinically during this treatment. Statistical comparison of the groups showed that benactyzine and paraldehyde were more successful than pyridoxine at giving the patient relief from the alcoholic withdrawal symptoms.
