Abstract
A formulation of relativistic multichannel quantum-defect theory is presented. The relativistic random-phase approximation is applied to calculate the eigenchannel parameters in the relativistic multichannel quantum-defect theory. The resonances due to inner-shell () excitations below the threshold for ions of the Be isoelectronic sequence are studied as illustrative examples.
