Abstract
A distinction is drawn between melanin formation and the process of feather pigmentation. Cellular physiol. of melanocytes and keratinoblasts is the basis for the genetic concept of feather pigmentation proposed. A pair of autosomal genes, Tr and Ac, controls melanin transfer and acceptor mechanisms. Data of breeding expts. are in accord with results anticipated by the transfer-acceptor hypothesis. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
