Abstract
Mycoplasma organisms were isolated from a high percentage of poults showing air-sac lesions. Several bacterial species were also sporadically isolated. Many Mycoplasma were isolated from the yolk sac of apparent "non-lesion" poults. The Viande Foie medium was found superior to the Difco PPLO medium for the primary isolation of the Mycoplasma species studied. Several flocks of turkeys from two farms were studied for the isolation of Mycoplasma and bacteria from the air-sacs of turkeys selected at regular intervals. These flocks of turkeys were also examined at processing, and the incidence of air-sac lesions and condemnations was recorded. The possible role of the isolated Mycoplasma species as the cause of air-sac lesions in day-old poults is discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
