Abstract
The juvenile probation process would be more effective if youths and adults became more mutually involved. Several as pects of typical probation agreements perpetuate barriers to this involvement because they conflict with the older adolescent's basic developmental tasks and goals. The adult may be able to remove these barriers if he is willing to become more involved himself—an experience that is demanding, difficult, personal, and exciting. Keywords
