A Finite Element Method for the Elastic Contact Problems

Abstract
A relatively simple technique used by Francavilla, et al. for frictionless elastic contact problems with displacement boundary conditions has been extended to handle the problems with force boundary conditions. The number of iterations necessary for solving this nonlinear problem is very small. The method has been applied to several test and practical problems and excellent results have been obtained.
